The Chisholm Trail Rangers defeated the Trimble Tech Bulldogs in an overtime thriller with a score of, 67-63 Friday . The win advances the Rangers to the Regional Quarterfinals of the Texas state playoffs. The Rangers showed incredible heart and grit throughout the game to earn the victory. Trimble Tech came out strong to start the game and took a 23-11 first quarter lead. However, Chisholm Trail stuck with the game plan and with a great effort on the defensive end, held the Bulldogs to only two 2nd quarter points. Offensively, the Rangers settled in and chipped away at Trimble Tech lead by attacking the basket and getting to the foul line. The strong second quarter gave Chisholm Trail a 29-25 halftime lead. Both teams traded the lead in the third quarter. However, it was Chisholm Trail who went up by 6 going into the fourth quarter. Only 9 seconds left, Chisholm Trail was at the foul line up by 2. The Rangers hit the first and missed the second, which allowed Trimble Tech to hit a long range contested off balance three at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. To start overtime, Trimble Tech scored 4 early points to take the lead. However, Chisholm Trail never wavered and hit a big shot from beyond the arc and got a huge bucket and foul to take the lead back. A Trimble Tech basket with 17 seconds left cut the Chisholm Trail lead to 2, however great ball movement and smart play offensively allowed Chisholm Trail to avoid the foul and make an uncontested layup to put the game away. The Rangers dug deep the remainder of the night, and in the face a adversity, were able to make the plays needed to win the game. The win moves Chisholm Trail to 26-5 overall on the season.
