The Rangers Fall Short Of A Regional Quarterfinal Victory Against Eastern Hills

Boy's Basketball - Fri, Mar. 3, 2017

The Chisholm Trail Rangers took on the Eastern Hills Highlanders in the Regional Quarterfinals at Colleyville Heritage High School Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Unfortunately, it was the Highlanders that came out on top to advance to the Regional Tournament. The game was a tremendous playoff atmosphere and both teams played incredibly hard. The teams went back and forth in the first quarter as the Rangers took a 17-15 lead. The second quarter, the very athletic Eastern Hills team was able to get the ball inside. The Rangers struggled to get good looks offensively, the Highlanders took a, 35-26 halftime lead. To start the second half, Chisholm Trail was able to trim the Eastern Hills lead with great execution on the offensive end and strong defensive play. The Rangers were able to cut the Highlander lead to, 47-41. In the fourth quarter, Chisholm Trail showed the amazing grit and heart that has driven them to many victories this season. Tough defense and big time plays on the offensive end allowed the Rangers to cut the Eastern Hills lead to 1 late in the game. However, Eastern Hills made enough free throws and got the stops needed to advance. In the defeat, Chisholm Trail showed once again what an amazing group of student-athletes they are. Their coaches are incredibly proud of them and they have been an absolute joy to coach this season. Top performers were; Cameron Huntsman - 28, Peyton Sallee - 9, Dustin Mathis - 3, Ryan Flores - 14.

"The 2016-2017 Chisholm Trail Ranger basketball team is a very special group and their determination to come in day after day, giving everything they have to the program and to each other is very admirable. This team epitomizes what it means to be, 5 for 1." - Coach Markley

The Rangers finish the season with a school record for wins in a season of, 26-6 overall. The senior class goes out after a two stretch that included a 49-13 record, a district championship, 3 state playoff wins, and back to back top 20 finishes in the Texas state rankings. Their incredible efforts have set the standard for the Chisholm Trail Boy's Basketball program!
