Chisholm Trail Varsity Tennis team competed in the District 6-5A Tennis Tournament April 3-4, 2017 at Texas Christian University.
The Rangers had a competitive run during the 2016-17 school year, chasing the dream of clinching district!
Boys' Singles comprised of, Ricardo Diaz and Lamech Alexander. Both had challenging rounds and played well.
Boys' Doubles was the team of D'Andre Bruman and Jacob McGuire. This duo was seeded #4 knowing their journey would be challenged by the time they advanced to the semifinals. The boys defeated Brewer in the opening rounds, and then defeated Saginaw in the quarterfinals. The boys took on Aledo's #1 seeded team with only a few minutes rest in between match, losing to them. They defeated Northwest in straight sets for 3rd place.
Girls' Division of singles and doubles proved to be more intense as Caitlin Souvannavong devoured her opponents, breezing through to the finals to capture the championships giving up only two games out of a possible 48 games. This Junior has hopes of becoming a candidate for a state performance this year and next.
Girls' Doubles was made up of, Chelsea Weckwerth/Paola Hernandez and Natalie Mai/Adrianna Faz. Weckwerth and Hernandez fell to Aledo in the opening rounds, while Mai/Faz defeated Brewer in the opening round to pick up another point for the girls division only to fall short to again Aledo in the quarterfinals.
Anna Morgan and Aeron Shipp and LaTerra Wair and Joshua Harris made up the Mixed Doubles teams. Morgan and Shipp battled hard against Eaton only to fall short while the team of Wair and Harris fell short to Aledo's team in the quarterfinals.
Girls captured a 3rd place overall for their performance in district. Caitlin Souvannavong will travel to Lubbock Texas Tech for a second year to battle for an opportunity to go to state as the post season play continues.
