Lady Rangers Overtake Boswell In A Nail Bitter

Softball - Thu, Apr. 2, 2015

Better and better

In just its third softball season, Saginaw Chisholm Trail has 12 retuning players and is on pace to have its best season yet.

The Rangers (15-6, 5-2 District 5-5A) have made the playoffs in their previous two seasons, but they lost in the first round both times. This season, they are 4-1 in games decided by two runs or less.

Despite being loaded with experienced players, freshman Lexi White is leading the team. She's among the best pitchers in the area at 4-0 and with a 1.09 ERA. She also starts at shortstop.

"She's held her own in the batting order with a .379 on-base percentage," coach Calvin Wright said. "On the mound, she has great movement on her off-speed pitches and gets a lot of weak-hit ground balls. We fully anticipate her to eat up a lot of innings in the future."

Junior Victoria Quinn is the Rangers' top hitter, batting .500. Seniors Mariah Gonzales and Alex Potts are hitting .373 and .360, respectively.
