Coach Higgins is entering his 4th year coaching and 1st year at Chisholm Trail. He coaches the Varsity Offensive Line with emphasis on the tackles. He also serves as the Head Powerlifting Coach.
Coach Higgins played offensive line and graduated from Maize High School outside of Wichita, Kansas in 2010, and went to TCU on an Army ROTC Scholarship. While, at TCU, Coach Higgins spent a brief amount of time as a practice squad offensive lineman, and graduated with a degree in History in 2014. He is currently finishing up his Master's degree in Educational Leadership.
Coach Higgins spent his first two years out of college coaching linebackers and offensive line at Fort Worth Carter-Riverside. While at Carter-Riverside, the Eagles went 5-5, finishing .500 for the first time in 20 years, and averaged over 200 yards rushing. After that, Coach Higgins spent one year at Carrollton Newman Smith, coaching receivers, and the offensive line. He briefly spent some time in Washington D.C. as an intern working on education policy and military studies for Congressman Beto O'Rourke, before returning home to Fort Worth to coach at Chisholm Trail.
In his free time, Coach Higgins enjoys lifting weights, going to TCU games, studying history and government, playing any kind of sport, and is also a 1st Lieutenant in the Texas Army National Guard.
